Is Eating Dairy Healthy?

The Real Stuff on Dairy: Is It Healthy?

Is Eating Dairy Natural?

The use of dairy products is widely seen as being wholly unnatural. In addition to being the only animal that consumes milk as adults, humans also consume milk from other animals.

It was just not done to drink milk until adulthood prior to the agricultural revolution. All mammals ingest their mothers' milk as newborns, but once weaned from it, we would never again eat dairy products.

Even while many people around the world have evolved over many years to eat dairy products from cows and goats as adults, we may still argue that, from the perspective indicated above, this isn't natural.

However, even though eating dairy isn't what nature intended, there may be certain health advantages...

Is Dairy Good For You?

Interestingly, despite lactose being a key ingredient in dairy products, over 75% of people worldwide are lactose intolerant. This means that individuals may feel nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea after eating milk products.

In contrast to Europe, Australia, and North America, this occurs more frequently in Africa, Asia, and South America.

Dairy is therefore obviously not "good" for the great majority of people.

Dairy products may be healthy for you if you are not lactose intolerant because of all the helpful elements they contain. However, other people complain eating dairy makes them feel bloated, leads to skin issues, and has other unpleasant consequences; this could be an indication of a more subtle lactose intolerance since lactose can sometimes be very challenging to digest.

In addition, milk and other dairy products are one of the main sources of saturated fat, which raises the risk of type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, and heart disease. Even the chance of developing some malignancies is said to be higher in people who consume dairy.

All of this is, of course, up for discussion. It's not a given that drinking cow's milk will cause heart disease or cancer, especially if you're ingesting organic, nutrient-rich whole milk and steer clear of dairy products with a lot of added sugar.

In addition, many people who eat a vegan diet decide not to consume dairy products. This can be because of environmental effects or worries about how cows are treated in the dairy business.

Dairy therefore doesn't inherently benefit our health, but it does offer a convenient approach to obtain a lot of critical nutrients.

What Nutrients Do We Get From Dairy?

Protein

Dairy is a great source of protein, first and foremost. Building, maintaining, and mending muscles depend entirely on protein, which is also excellent for generating energy.

Calcium

And of course, everyone is aware that dairy is high in calcium. Calcium plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of the heart, muscles, and nerves as well as the strength of the bones and teeth.

Nutrition D

To support the aforementioned processes, vitamin D controls the body's calcium levels. We actually acquire the majority of this vitamin from natural sunshine because it is not naturally present in many foods. Therefore, it is quite advantageous that dairy products contain vitamin D.Vitamin B12

Dairy contains vitamin B12, which keeps the nerves and blood cells healthy. A deficiency in vitamin B12 can lead to Anemia.

B2 vitamin

Additionally, dairy products contain vitamin B2, which aids in the body's energy production by assisting in the breakdown of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates.

Dairy also contains trace amounts of the B-vitamins, vitamin A, and other vital minerals in addition to the aforementioned.
